Econyl®

Nylon waste is transformed into regenerated nylon known as Econyl.® Infinitely recyclable and can unleash infinite possibilities for makers, creators and consumers.

Material Sourcing

Nylon is sourced entirely from ocean and landfill waste, such as industrial plastic, fabric scraps from clothing manufacturing companies, old carpets and lost or abandoned fishing nets.

Physical Properties

Has the same properties as Nylon – wear resistant, crush resistant, soil resistant and dyeable.

Forming Methods

Waste Products are taken to pretreatment facilities where they are sorted and shredded into smaller pieces. The shredded material is moved to a regeneration plant, put into huge chemical reactors that break down the components of the material and regenerated polyamide 6.

The final product is processed into yarn. Used in swimwear, underwear and sportswear by brands like Adida, H&M, La Perla, Stella McCartney, Outerknown by Kelly Slater, Levi’s, Breitling watch straps and Rapanui.

Also sustainable textile for interior design furnishings including carpets, carpet tiles and rugs. Used in car upholstery, carpeting and mats.

Sustainability

Can be recycled, recreated and remolded endlessly without loss of quality in the finished product. Using abandoned fishing nets helps clean up the seas where entanglement in abandoned nets causes the death of many thousands of whales, dolphins and other se life. For every 10,000 tons of raw materials recycled into Econyl – 70,000 barrels of crude oil are saved and 57,000 tonnes of CO2 avoided. Reusing Nylon reduces the global warming impact of nylon by 80% compared with the material produced from oil.
