Bagasse

Also known as sugarcane. The crushed stalks can be made into other items. The residual and woody fiber in the cane and is used for pulp and paper products.

 
 
  • Sugarcane is typically harvested to obtain cane juice. When juice is extracted from the stalk is typically incinerated or discarded.

  • Has been used as an alternative to plastic or Styrofoam for packaging and disposable utensil purposes. Zume pizza boxes are made from sustainably farmed sugarcane fiber, which is recyclable and compostable.

  • Natural fiber products take 30 – 60 days to compost.

    Sugarcane is the world’s largest crop. Renewable, fast-growing and abundantly available.

    Biodegradable.

  • Natural look and feel. Durable, holds up well to high heat levels. Stands up well to soup and other hot food.
