Thermally Modified Natural Wood

Natural, non-toxic alternative to chemically treated wood products for the home that undergoes a thermal modification process rather than being pressure-treated. The wood is essentially cooked in oxygen free ovens at temperature over 400 F. Not suitable for structural applications, used in decking, siding, flooring, wall paneling, ceilings, accent wall and doors.

  • Sourced from a variety of tree species including local sources. Fast-growing local forest stands can be thermally modified and subsequently used for lumber for almost every home construction.

  • Thermal modification process changes cellular and molecular makeup of wood by removing all organic compounds from the wood cells. The wood will no longer be able to absorb water and in turn expand/contract which leads to rot. The lack of water means that the woods cellulose will no longer act as a food source for fungi or insects. Only need sealant to protect it from UV rays and maintain its color.

  • No chemicals used as opposed to pressure treated woods. Deep brown color does not need chemical varnishes or stains which off-gas various volatile organic compounds and require no maintenance.

  • Resistant to water, fungus, insects and decay, natural deep brown hue, lightweight.
